The book titled, Kid Pix® Deluxe 3 Projects for the Classroom, is a great technology supplement to your curriculum. The book will help your students learn valuable technology skills of a paint and draw program while also reinforcing concepts you need to cover at your grade level. The book of technology tutorials is made up of twenty-eight lessons based on the California State Content Standards for grades K-6. There are four lessons per grade level. As the students progress through the grades, more technology skills are introduced in each lesson. Each lesson contains a teacher page that includes the California State Standard, goals and objectives, and extended activities. The next page is a student page that includes easy directions for a student to follow or an adult to help the student read for younger ages. The last page of each technology lesson contains a picture of the template that the students will start with and an example of a finished technology project. Kindergarten Technology Lesson Plans
- Neighborhood - History/Social Science
Students will use the template provided to create a model of a neighborhood using the fill bucket and rubber stamps in Kid Pix to represent homes, airports, schools, stores, library, and parks. They can fill the streets with appropriate objects seen in their community such as cars, stoplights, bicycles, etc.
- Color Chart - Language Arts
Students will use the template provided to categorize objects according to their color in Kid Pix.
- ABC Chart - Language Arts
Students will use the template provided to categorize pictures according to the first letter of their name in Kid Pix.
- Animal Chart - Science and Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to categorize animals according to attributes and quantities in Kid Pix.
- Measurement - Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to categorize pictures of objects according to the appropriate measurement in Kid Pix.
- Shapes - Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to categorize pictures with the same shape as various plane and solid figures in Kid Pix.
First Grade Technology Lesson Plans
- Things in a House - Language Arts
Students will use the template provided to categorize objects according to the correct rooms they belong to in a house. They will decorate the sky and ground to complete the lesson using the tools of Kid Pix.
- The Four Seasons - Science and History/Social Science
Students will use the template provided to create a season chart that shows how a tree changes its foliage from season to season. Students will decorate each season to represent the activities and the changes in the natural environment that take place using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Ways to Travel - History/Social Science
Students will use the template provided to create a map on ways to travel. The map will include a map legend of plains, mountains, and lakes. The students will place stamps onto their maps and map legends using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Habitats - Science
Students will use the template provided to create a habitat chart that shows the different plants and animals that inhabit environments around the world using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Math Facts - Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to practice addition and subtraction facts. They will use the number line and pictures to help them count and subtract using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Telling Time - Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to show that they know how to tell time to the nearest half hour using the tools of Kid Pix.
Second Grade Technology Lesson Plans
- Earth’s Resources - Science
Students will use the template provided to create a chart showing how humans use the natural resources of rock, plants, water, and soil using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Animal Groups - Science
Students will use the template provided to create a chart showing that different animals belong to different groups due to unique physical features using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Family History - History/Social Science

- California Native Americans - History/Social Science
Students will use the template provided to create a map that shows a Native American tribe from each region of California and the natural resources found in each using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Spanish Missions - History/Social Sciences
Students will use the template provided to create a layout of a typical mission that includes the different rooms inside and the different features outside the mission where the padres, soldiers, and Native Americans worked using the tools of Kid Pix.
- The Western Trails - History/Social Sciences
Students will use the template provided to create a map of the western trails. They will label the major towns and trails that guided people west using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Rock Properties - Science
Students will use the template provided to create a chart showing the types, facts, and characteristics of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks as well as the method of formation for each rock using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Perimeter and Area - Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to find the perimeter and area of squares, rectangles, and complex shapes. Students will also draw their own polygon, label the sides, and find the perimeter using the tools of Kid Pix.

Students will use the template provided to plot coordinate points from a function table and from a list of given coordinates using the tools of Kid Pix.
Fifth Grade Technology Lesson Plans
- Native American Culture Regions - History/Social Science
Students will use the template provided to create a map showing tribes that lived in different Native American culture regions and some of the natural resources used for food, shelter, arts, and crafts found in each region using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Exploring the New World - History/Social Science
Students will use the template provided to create a map of the routes of famous explorers using the tools of Kid Pix.
- The Thirteen British Colonies - History/Social Science
Students will use the template provided to create a map of the 13 colonies and include a map key that divides the colonies into the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies. Students will add pictures to their maps and map legends that represent each colony using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Our Solar System - Science
Students will use the template provided to create a picture showing the nine planets of our solar system in order of their distance from the Sun. The students will also complete a chart of each planet’s distance from the sun and the number of known moons using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Coordinate Graphing - Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to graph ordered pairs and connect them in order to reveal a picture using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Angles and Triangles - Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to draw different types of angles and triangles using the tools of Kid Pix. Next, they will label the angles of the triangles. Students will use the formula (1/2 bh) to find the area of selected triangles.
Sixth Grade Technology Lesson Plans
- Ancient Egypt - History/Social Science
Students will use the template provided to create a map of Ancient Egypt using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Contributions of the Romans - History/Social Science
Students will use the template provided to create a chart about Rome using the tools of Kid Pix. The chart will include a map of the Roman Empire and the contributions by the Romans to later civilizations.
- Plate Tectonics - Science
Students will use the template provided to create a map that shows the plates that cover our earth. On the map, students will also show the different kinds of plate boundaries, hot spots, and active volcanoes using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Food Web - Science
Students will use the template provided to create a chart that shows a food web and the interaction between organisms using the tools of Kid Pix.
- Volume - Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to classify objects and draw objects such as a rectangular prism, a triangular prism, and a cylinder using the tools of Kid Pix. Students will use formulas to find out the volume of these objects.
- Pie Chart - Mathematics
Students will use the template provided to display data collected from two samples of a population in two pie charts using the tools of Kid Pix. Students will compute the range, mean, median, and mode of the two samples collected.
