Having been a classroom teacher for over 12 years in Orange County, I saw the endless possibilities that educational technology could help to enhance the curriculum. With teachers' days becoming filled with endless responsibilities and curriculum to cover, it became apparent that technology needed to be integrated into the curriculum rather than taught in isolation.
During the inservicing I have done as a mentor teacher and the feedback I have received training teachers at the Department of Education, I wanted to create a technology education lesson plan book that would help teachers supplement their curriculum while helping them meet the California State Content Standard requirements.

My first book, Kid Pix® Deluxe 3 Projects for the Classroom is for grades K-6. The kid pix technology lessons in this book allow the students to learn curriculum while also learning valuable technology skills. There are four lessons per grade level for a total of 28 lessons. Each kids computer lesson is aligned to California State Standards. The lessons are designed to introduce new technology skills at each grade level in the paint and draw program of Kid Pix® Deluxe 3. Each lesson contains a teacher page that includes the California State Standard, goals and objectives, and extended activities. The next page is a student page that includes easy directions for a student to follow or an adult to help the student read for younger ages. The last page of each technology lesson plan contains a picture of the template and an example of a finished project. These lessons are sure to help engage and motivate students to learn the curriculum in a whole new way.
The new Kid Pix 4 Projects for the Classroom book has just been published and has 12 new Math integrated technology lessons as well as all of the previous lessons converted to the new format. I am very excited about this new version of the kid pix software and its potential with children.
